In 1986, Smith Industries Ltd. built the “Barney Boy” blue liquid manure spreader which helped hog and dairy producers save time and money. It allowed farmers across the prairies to pump out pits in barns and inject rich fertilizer into their fields. Also in the early years, the “Septic Pumper” was a significant contributor to the growth and sustainability of the company. The unit was basic, cost effective and allowed the company to create a broad customer base and to build strong relationships within the industry.

Today, Smith Industries Ltd. has evolved into a manufacturer of high-end, quality products. This cutting-edge technology was a collaboration of listening to customers needs and putting Smith’s innovative skills to work.

Since 1986 Smith Industries Ltd. has manufactured and serviced truck mounted vacuum systems for markets in Ontario and central and western Canada. Standard products include hydrovac trucks and vacuum trucks for hauling municipal, industrial and agricultural waste. The company also designs and builds customized products for the mining industry.
